Firstly, I moved everything from the memory cards into the folder 'footage' or 'bloopers' depending on how good the clips were. Then I moved the files from 'footage' onto Final Cut Pro and began placing them on the timeline in the correct order. Next, I used the razor blade tool to cut the clips and for some shots I used a freeze frame to lengthen the shot. The tricky bit was when I had to edit the clips to make them look like match cuts and the timing had to be perfect to allow the transition to look smooth. With a few trial and errors, the outcome was pretty good. After that, I placed The Breakfast Club original soundtrack from YOUTUBE onto the time line and lowered the volume of the song after the credits finished. Then, I put in the voiceover of me and fine tuned the editing to match the speed of my voice, this was also abit tricky as some shots were too short and some too long to match my voiceover, however I overcame this by adding freeze frames where the shots were short and cutting the shot where it was too long. Finally, I added the credits and tried to keep the font, colour of background and text similar to that of the original opening titles.
I think we could definitely improve some parts of our video, for example some bits sound like the music is cutting off and only my voice can be heard, if I was to edit again I'd lower my voice and increase the music by a tad and perhaps have more fade outs and fade ins. Overall, the editing part of this project was very enjoyable and enabled me to learn more skills.
